How Intuition Can Propel Both Your Personal and Professional Life Forward

Intuition is defined in the online dictionary as the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.

How do you make decisions when it comes to your career?

Many people use pure logic. Others balance logic with instinct. There are those who solely rely on their gut to help them weather the most difficult storms in their career and make fruitful decisions.

  • Have you ever had the sense that something was clearly wrong in your workplace, but could not put your finger on it?

  • Have you needed to look for another job immediately while feeling that the winds of change are marshalling you to embrace a new direction?

  • Have you ever walked into a company that you just interviewed for a role and experienced a feeling of “coming home”? Interestingly enough, you ended up staying with this company for more than 10 years.

  • Did you ever encounter a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when meeting someone only to discover that your hunch about that person whether to trust him/her was right?

  • Have you ever dreamt of something only to discover that same scenario exactly played out months later?

The above scenarios are not uncommon. They reveal the exact footprint that undergirds each decision – our intuition. Your gut never lies. If we fail to listen to our "inner voice," we may pay a high price and have to face the consequences.

However, if we leverage intuition as a powerful medium at its most opportune timing, we increase our luck and success.

It takes a finely honed skill to master the art of leveraging intuition. Over the years, I have relied on this innate sense to guide my personal life and business and career strategy with clients.

The next time you are faced with a life-changing decision, take a weather report:

  • Ask yourself how do you feel at the time?

  • What does your gut say?

  • What are you inclined to do as the next step?

  • Use guided meditation and journalling to assess the situation and your feelings.

  • Avoid making rash decisions.

The saying “follow your heart” sometimes holds true. We may not always follow our passions, but at the end of the day our heart may just rule our head when it comes to finding the path to inner fulfillment and harmony, even in career-related decisions.
